How LIFE Began

The story of how LIFE Rescue began is below.  However, first and foremost I would like our visitors to know that I could NOT have started and continued this DREAM without our ROCK, our heavenly Father, God; my amazing husband, family, friends, our wonderful LIFE crew, volunteers, sponsors, fosters and supporters. 

NONE of this is possible without each and EVERY ONE OF THEM!

Love is Fur Ever Dog Rescue was founded on July 19^th, 2013.  I, Victoria Frazier (a full time teacher) has always had a LOVE for animals, but dogs steal every inch of my heart.  This is how it all started………..

One December day in 2011, I was driving down SR 31 near Babcock Ranch with my mom, heading to my sisters in Lakeland, FL for the weekend.  This busy road is traveled on by huge semi-trucks, and other vehicles.  As I always do, my eyes are open for moving creatures on the roads, and side streets.  I caught a glimpse of what looked like a small animal.  As we got closer, I realized this was an animal; it was a large dog.  There was a HUGE semi-truck coming, and I told my mom to hang on!  I pulled across the lane with the semi coming head on, not thinking twice about our safety but of catching this dog!  I spotted the dog and pulled completely over to the other side of the road.  I got closer and closer to the dog and she started to yelp and cry as if she was extremely hurt.  I picked her up and brought her to the car, and my mom says to me, “What are you going to do with her?”  I say, “Well I don’t know yet exactly, but she is coming with us to Lakeland.”   She took in some water, and the look on her face and the talk in her eyes said it all, “thank you.”  She had massive cuts on her ears, face, and neck; broken teeth and was very skinny.   We then stopped at a gas station up the road to try to let her go potty.  Someone said to me “Was she dumped too?”  I looked at them with confusion.  The lady said, “People dump them all the time here on this road, or the hunters at Babcock don’t care if their hunting dogs return or not.”So there it was, we were taking her with us to Lakeland.  She slept the 2 ½ hour drive there and didn’t move.    Her eyes were an amazing bright yellow/orange, and that’s when I named my first rescue, “SUNSHINE.”  After our drive, we arrived at my sisters.  She was friendly with her dogs, and slept most of the two days we were there.  She didn’t leave my side.  When I got up to go somewhere, so did Sunshine.  Our bond was unreal!   When we returned back to Fort Myers, FL, I took her into the vet to treat her bleeding cuts, hundreds of fleas, and worms.  I had my own personal dogs waiting at home for me.  However, when we returned home, my mom took my dogs while Sunshine was healing.  Sunshine stayed with me, as I searched for a fur ever for her.  Sunshine was with me for over 3 weeks until she was adopted.  I cried and cried when she left.  Not only for happiness that she found a home, but that she was leaving me, this dog that I saved (my Sunshine)!  That’s when I knew I wanted to do it all over again!  That’s when I knew why I was put on this earth.  That’s when I knew I was going to make a difference and save a LIFE, many lives of dogs who are forgotten!   This was all new for me.  I did not know a thing about rescue.   I continued to find dogs on the streets and one thing led to another for the next 1 ½ years.  I just kept rescuing, and finding homes for these stray, neglected dogs. I attended a wonderful training in June of 2013 on how to start my own rescue at Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah.  This got me prepared, educated, and thinking for what I had to do for the future.  However, the future was too far away and I wanted to start my own rescue immediately.  I couldn’t wait any longer, therefore in July 2013 as I was driving 20hrs home from West Virginia to Florida, I decided to make it official, and created the name Love is Fur Ever Dog Rescue, became a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) and made my LIFE dream of saving more lives happen!

The LIFE Crew

Here are the wonderful volunteers who not ONLY work full-time jobs but who take so much time out of their personal worlds, to help LIFE Rescue. Each one of these individuals is VERY SPECIAL, loving, and they bring so much to LIFE Rescue. We have by far the most AMAZING team, that understands and works very well with each other. The LIFE Crew cares  for one other, we all RESPECT each other, and put forth the EFFORT to bring EVERYTHING we can to the table to HELP dogs in need. We each are a unique beings, however when we work together as a TEAM, it helps build a cohesive organization.
